For many American families, school mornings are the craziest, most hectic time of the day. Who needs their hair done? Who hasn’t eaten breakfast yet? Who can’t find their shoes? Parents are always looking for new tips and tricks to simplify things for our nutty families, and many of us have found that doing as much prep work as you can the night before paves the way for a smooth, easy morning. Here are three of our top tips to help smooth out your morning routine:
1. Pack a Lunch With a Pop
Your little lady needs a healthy lunch to take with her to school. By making it the night before, you'll save precious minutes in the morning and ensure that you have enough time to pack a balanced meal. From your daughter’s perspective, school lunch is more than just a chance to eat some tasty food—it’s also the main social hour of the day. With whom is she going to sit? With whom is she going to play?
Sometimes school lunch can seem overwhelming. Help make it fun and meaningful by including a little note along with some fun, colorful stickers. Friendly characters like Dory and Princess Elsa will put a smile on your daughter’s face, and it just takes an extra moment the night before.
2. Relax with a Spa Bath
Showering in the morning may be a necessary wake-up ritual for you, but most kids get more benefit from a nighttime bath. Soaking in the suds is a wonderful way to rinse away the grime from a day of play and encourage winding down for a good night’s sleep. Combining a nighttime bath with a grooming ritual like a mani-pedi using one of our spa kits is a great way to help your girl tame school stress. Bathing at night saves valuable time in the morning and helps kids fall asleep faster.
3. Perfect Your Princess Plaits
Think you can’t arrange a hairdo at night that will still look neat and pretty in the morning? Think again! This proven method of overnight braiding will make you a convert:
- After shampooing and conditioning with your daughter’s favorite bath products, towel-dry her hair. Then work in a medium puff of hair mousse and comb through with a wide-tooth comb.
- Separate hair into two equal sections and create two pigtail French braids. Secure with hair elastics—our favorite choice is the Minnie Mouse bow elastics available in our hair sets. Spray with a very light mist of hairspray, and send her off to bed.
- In the morning, fix any flyaways or loose spots with a comb and few bobby pins. Add in any other cute clips and accessories you’d like, and she’s good to go!
