Here at Townleygirl, we are known for helping girls perfect their dress up game. Special hair accessories can make any little girl feel like a beautiful grown-up. But what about making you beautiful, grown-up moms feel like a little kid again?
If you and your little one are looking for something special to do together this holiday break, grab a hair brush, bobby pins, and glitter spray, and hit the mirror together!
Here are a few of our best ideas for special and sparkly matching mother-daughter hair styles that will be the hit of the party this New Year’s Eve.
1. Twisty Crown
In search of something that will look gorgeous and age-appropriate on both you and your daughter? Go for soft and loose locks with twisted details around the temples. For something that sounds complicated, it’s actually a very easy look to accomplish.
To begin, brush hair smooth, part in the middle, and make sure you have a few bobby pins on hand. Starting on one side, take about a one-inch section of hair (on mom) or a half-inch section of hair (for your daughter) from the front, near the part, and begin twisting it backward, toward the back of the head. As you twist down to the base of the neck, keep adding little pieces of hair as you go (like when French braiding). Pin the twist right behind the ear, and repeat on the other side. Spritz with a good holding spray, and you’re ready to go!
2. Elsa’s Side Braid with Sparkles
Want something that’s long on style, short on difficulty? This puffy side braid with glittery detail will deliver! Not to mention that side braids look classy and pretty on any age princess or queen. We like to use the cute and sparkly tools in the Frozen Hair Accessories Set.
Start by massaging some volumizing mousse into the entire length of hair. Sweep tresses over to the side, and create a deep side part. Wrap hair around to the side, separating into three equal sections, and braiding it into a loose, messy braid. Secure with one of our Frozen hair elastics, and spray with glittery hairspray. It’s a wrap!
3. Rock ‘n’ Troll Up-do
This wild and fun party look is best begun with slightly dirty hair. Generally, two or three days after shampooing works best. And no, we’re not being yucky. Experts know that slightly oily hair is easier to work with when volume and bobby pins are involved.
Start with a generous spray of volumizing dry shampoo for shape and hold. Flip hair over, and spray around the base of the head, and the underside of the mane. Keep head upside-down and brush the product through. When you flip the head back over, you’re going to start recognizing that signature Trolls style! Keeping the volume around the base of the crown (a la 1960’s bouffant), gather your poof into a very puffy, very high ponytail. Secure with a hair elastic. We like the cute colored ones in our Trolls Hair Accessories Set. Tuck the ends of hair into the underside of the hair elastic and pin. Finish off with the set’s two Trolls snap clips (one for mommy, one for daughter) and head to the party!
