Want to ensure princess hair perfection on Halloween night?
Follow these five tips to style your girl’s tresses and make sure she feels like a true princess on Halloween!
1. Tackle hair as the last step when donning the costume.
Have you ever gotten your hair just how you like it, and then realized that your outfit can’t fit over it? Mini-tragedies like these can be avoided by making sure your daughter’s costume is already on when you start to style. This way it won’t mess up her lovely tresses when you pull it over her head—or transfer static electricity to make her hair frizzy.
2. Don’t be afraid of wash-out hair dye.
Is your girl a blonde who wants to look like red-haired maven of the sea, Princess Ariel? No problem. There are many spray-in, wash-out hair dye products available that are non-toxic and totally temporary. Sometimes a signature hair color can really make the costume stand out, so go ahead! Be a "cool mom" and help your daughter use a short-term, wash-out dye. You could even follow this tutorial, and make your own temporary color at home using food coloring!
3. Start with dirty hair.
Yes, you read that right! Usually you’re trying to wrangle your kids into the bath or shower as often as you can, but this time you should use a shower cap to let your daughter’s hair stay a bit greasy. If you’ve ever had a professional up-do done for yourself, you know that the best stylists will make sure you come in with hair that hasn’t been washed too recently. Why? Too-clean hair is actually pretty unmanageable, and difficult to style. Hair with a bit of natural oil in it is much more mold-able, and more likely to stay in perfect shape all night long!
4. Break out the products!
Add a bit of volumizing or smoothing mousse, depending on if your daughter’s hair is straight or curly. Brush through with our extra special Disney Princess Glitter Shaker Hair Brush, and then spritz the roots with dry shampoo, according to the bottle’s instructions. This will create a manageable and beautiful blank canvas to hold your hairdo of choice.
5. Finish the job with the perfect princess accessories.
No matter which princess you and your daughter choose to emulate, Townleygirl can help you add the flawless finishing touch. How often do you see a princess all dressed up for a special event, without her crowning hair accessory? Make sure to top off the perfect princess look with the perfect princess hair, and top the perfect princess hair with one of our popular princess hair accessory sets: Frozen Hair Accessory Set, Elena Hair Accessory Set, and Frozen Deluxe Bow Set.
As any true Disney fan knows, it’s not the clothes that make the princess. It’s the attitude! Clothes can certainly help, however, and nothing says polished princess like a perfectly coiffed hairstyle (and maybe even a tiara). Once you and your girl have the perfect princess look all ready to go, it’s time to go have fun!
