9 Snow Day Activities to Do with Little Girls
There’s nothing like a rainy or snow day with a house full of kids to make you wish for a bit of peace and quiet. Still, with fun games and ideas like these, you’ll have so much family fun, you won’t miss your quiet time.
1. Character Costumes
Choose your favorite book or movie characters and recreate their looks with the clothes, shoes, and random items you have around the house. Love Mary Poppins? Grab a drab old umbrella from the basement and a frilly white apron from the kitchen and let the playtime begin.
2. Pretend Nail Salon
Too cold and wet outside? Go barefoot and gloveless in the warmth of the house as you let your nails dry! Kids will have fun using Townleygirl nail sets to open up their own private nail salon on a snow day off from school. Girls can get the perfect mani-pedi in their favorite colors from mom!
3. Princess Party
This “party” is especially fun if you have a full house of kids and a big box full of glamorous accessories like plastic tiaras, feather boas, and mom’s pearls. Everyone dresses up in full DIY glitz and walks around rubbing shoulders with the other fancy royalty.
4. Make a Time Capsule
This activity is kind of a two-for since you’ll have fun deciding what to put in (we recommend writing a letter to your future selves and a few well-chosen selfies), but you’ll also have a ton of fun in the future when you decide to bring it out again.
5. At-Home Spa Day
Change your bathroom into a kid-friendly spa oasis. A nice warm bubble bath, complete with Play-Doh moldable soap will be a big hit. And with fancy extras like Disney princess spa sandals from Townleygirl, the experience will be that much more special. A day off from school because of a snow day is a child's dream, but you can also pamper yourself too!
6. Walk Down Memory Lane
Pull out your old photo albums from before your kids were born and show them pictures of you and folks like Grandma and Grandpa in younger days. They’re sure to get a kick out of seeing everyone looking younger and wearing crazy old styles. Then bring out their baby pics and show them how cute they were!
7. Play Restaurant
You have to prepare breakfast, lunch, snack time, and dinner anyway on a rainy or snowy day at home, so why not get the kids involved? Work out a “menu” together and type it up, print it out, and let them decorate the area with a tablecloth, flowers, special dishes, you name it. This will keep the kids busy using their imagination!
8. Play Fashion Show
You’d be surprised how easily that long hallway in your house turns into a working catwalk. Mix and match crazy colors with upbeat music, mom’s high heels, and tons of attitude. Take plenty of pics to remember the fun.
9. Make Your Own Ice Cream
Take advantage of the snow on the ground and follow this cool and creamy recipe that doesn’t require an ice cream machine. Simply sub the three cups of ice with a few scoopfuls of that white stuff all over your lawn. Don’t worry, the snow doesn’t actually go into the ice cream you’ll eat. It just helps the freezing process.
