Here’s 9 ways you can celebrate the big day in style:
On March 1, Disney Parks announced that they will kick off the World’s Biggest Mouse Party later this year to celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s November 18 birthday! That means that epic parties will start around the world and extend well into 2019. Mickey and Minnie fans, it’s time to mouse up!
- Save the date ABC will commemorate the big day with a star-studded special devoted to Mickey, and the Disney Channel will air an extended birthday episode of Mickey Mouse shorts. Disney On Ice will also Mickey’s Special Celebration will tour throughout Asia starting in July, and fans can get an exclusive two days of special panels and presentations the Mouse family during Destination D, a two-day event hosted by D23 magazine.

- April: Raise your voice to cheer on Mickey Mouse! The first cartoon character to ever speak out loud, he evolved from a rabbit named Oswald to a mouse named Mortimer. Walt Disney finally got his “pet” project right when he debuted “Mickey” in his animated short Steamboat Willie. The world first heard Mickey’s voice in the 1929 short “The Karnival Kid.” His first words? Hot dog!
- May: Join The Same Club That Kicked Off Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and Britney Spears’ careers! The first Mickey Mouse Club popped up in Salem, Oregon a year after Mickey was born. It was a fundraiser for the Salvation Army that asked for a donation of a potato or a small toy and a penny to join. Since then, it skyrocketed into popularity and debuted as a TV show in 1955.
- June: Stand Up for Mickey and Minnie! Mickey was the first character to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Minnie just got hers this year!
- July Celebrate love: Mickey and Minnie Mouse-style. The first time Minnie appeared as Mickey’s love interest was in the 1929 short "Plane Crazy." Things didn’t exactly work out. When Mickey invites Minnie along for plane ride and tries to lean in for a kiss, she parachutes out! Take that, Mickey!!
- August: Let’s Hear it for Our Girl! Minnie’s real full name is Minerva, and she was voiced by a man! Walt Disney himself voiced her for the first year of her existence, then an actress named Marjorie Ralston took over.
- September: Get Minnie-fashionable! Minnie Mouse’s look has evolved through the years, from short, flapper-girl ruffles and a hat to the classic red-and-white bow look we know so well today. The bows everywhere redesign happened in 1940. Get Minnie’s look here!
- October: Feel the Mickey Mouse Music! Mickey Mouse released a disco album in 1979. It went double platinum!!
- November: Happy birthday, Mickey and Minnie! On the 18th, Mickey and Minnie turn 90! Celebrate the anniversary of the release of Steamboat Willie, the first short animated film starring the dynamic duo, which was also part of the first wave of animated shorts to use synchronized sound. Steamboat stood out not just because of how well it stayed on the beat (thanks to the innovative use of a click track), but for the appeal of Disney’s two new blockbuster characters: Hello world, meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
