How to Live Like Jack and Sally from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
It’s officially summertime, Young Queens, and school is finally out-- as well as the sun! The smells of BBQ and ocean waves have started to flood the air, and a sweet summer romance is waiting for each of us at the end of the horizon. #Summervibes
When it comes to romance, one of my favorite love stories told is a Disney animated film, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas - a timeless masterpiece brought to life by Tim Burton and Danny Elfman. While Sally the Rag Doll is not your typical Disney Princess, she is by far one of the most intelligent, honest and brave female characters that Disney has EVER debuted. Her love for Jack Skellington is faithful and true, beginning as a loyal friendship and solidifying with a moonlit kiss.
This week’s #PrincessTips is all about defining love with Jack and Sally, inspired by some of my favorite new gifts for girls at TownleyGirl.com.
1. Be Fearless
There will be times in your life when you will come across BIG opportunities, that you won't believe can actually happen to you... When those comes along, don’t think twice. Don’t even breathe. Just Jump. Jack and Sally found love together through a common desire to accomplish something more in their lives, before the 'nail hit the coffin.’
This new Nightmare 4 Pack Lip Gloss Set w/ Coffin Tin is the perfect reminder to live life like Jack and Sally - full, fearless and fierce. Four glitter-infused lip gloss vials are included in this adorable coffin tin, which I am currently using as a bobby pin jar on my vanity. Each of the fruit-scented glosses features artwork from The Nightmare Before Christmas, illustrating the love story to perfection. My favorite is the rose raspberry, which leaves a subtle pink metallic stain on your pout and moisturizing dewy finish.
2. Fix Your Own Flaws
When it comes to self-love and self-correction, no one does it better than Sally the Rag Doll. Pieced together with tattered fabrics and stuffed with dead leaves, this crafty Disney diva takes ownership of her situation by becoming an epic seamstress, keeping a needle and thread handy at all times.
3. You Have the Power to Take Care of Yourself
After launching herself out of the window to escape imprisonment, Sally gives us all a HUGE #PrincessTip by pulling out her needle and thread and sewing herself back together-- stitch by stitch. Sally teaches us that with the right wits, you can get yourself out of a tough situation and take care of yourself. Start small by implementing a self-care routine that includes painting your nails, journaling or experimenting with a new lip gloss to turn heads.
Another great lip gloss set is TownleyGirl's Nightmare Lip Gloss with a Holographic Tin Set. It's the perfect combination of spooky and spunky.
Take care of your body, heart and spirit, Young Queen. The world can be a spooky Nightmare sometimes, but in your mind it can always be Christmas!
