Hollywood kids are all about the painted nail— are yours? Mariah Carey and her 6-year-
Even though I’m not a mother or a first-time mom-to-be, I feel like I’m already an expert on the best non-toxic nail polishes for kids. I adore my #TownleyGirl's and painting their nails; it’s such a fun bonding activity, and they love it too, especially when we can wear the same color and be “twins.”
Now for the REAL question... Is nail polish safe for kids? I went straight to the source and took the liberty of interviewing our VP of Operations, George Rippe. He is heavily involved in the ingredients of each and every TownleyGirl product made.
What is the deal with the controversy to replace ingredients like mineral oil? (Again, many beauty brands still use this, TOWNLEYGIRL does not).
GP: We always strive to sell “non -controversial” ingredients. All of our factories are audited by our licensors and our internal QA/QC team to ensure our factories are using approved components and ingredients.
GP: In regards to sourcing, we try our best to steer away from components that may cause allergic reactions. For example, we are now replacing the “wheat” in our bath clay with “potato” due to gluten allergies.
What are the standards for getting a license for personal care? Does the licensor look at ingredients, production, etc.?
GP: Our licensors are very involved in the development process. They sign off on all artwork to ensure it’s appropriate and accurately portrays the brand's vision. They also review all preproduction samples to ensure the formulas and quality is acceptable. As a last check, we send our licensors samples from our production run. After our licensor has approved our “TOP sample”, we will then offer the products to our customers.
Internally, we test all of our products with a 3rd party to ensure that the formula and ingredients match the labeling on back.
As a recent accomplishment, we now have permission to sell our items in multiple regions. All new development will need to pass “EU, Latin America, US, Canada, Mexico, India, and South America” testing. This means every new product we develop will meet the strictest standards of approval.
